A clean bill of health: Twin Falls assisted living facility gets high marks from state survey

We didn’t get to do a June newsletter since the Times News article about the recent State Survey was distributed. What a great place we live in. We’ve completed another quilt. We’ve been mixing up the menu and having several different things lately.  Irmgard shared her art talent with us and she drew a picture of a beautiful chair...it’s framed on the piano...so take a look. We miss Juanita and her infectious laugh. Someone from Hospice Visions came out to do some grief counseling with us..which was really nice. Our senior volunteer, Ginny, from the Office on Aging has been playing the piano for us every Friday...it is beautiful. We are looking forward to celebrating with Vivian her 101st birthday on July 14th!! We are excited for  the 4th of July to celebrate our Country’s independence….but not likely that we will play with any fireworks….
Hope to have you come visit!!

Boy…...we sure saw  the “April Showers”….time will tell if they will bring “May Flowers”. We have been loving the new yoga lady...she is so full of energy and makes it really fun….we laugh a lot.  During April we made some fun Easter eggs and decorated Easter cupcakes.  We all participated in tying a beautiful quilt….and plan to have it on display in the great room soon. We've been having a monthly resident council where we get to discuss lots of things here and make suggestions or requests for different meals and activities. One request has been to do a resident spotlight each month so we can all get to know each other better. So JoAnn will be coming up with a template of different information to gather for upcoming newsletters so we can begin to do a spotlight. We know everyone will have great things to share about themselves and we very much look forward to it. We’ve been having some different side food items and meals that we requested in our last resident council. Sue, one of our weekend caregivers has been bringing some fun old western movies…….we’ve been enjoying them. Daily, JoAnn goes over current events from the newspaper and has us discuss our “thorns and roses” each day.  We have been trying to learn to play pinochle…..but apparently we need a few lessons from someone that knows the game….if this is you...please contact JoAnn.

Can’t wait to have you come visit!!

Well...during the month of March we looked long and hard for a pot of gold...but still didn’t find it this year. We tried to do some fun St. Patty’s Day stuff, we had some candy treats, green cookies, and wore something green...but Vivian was still pinching people. We made some new decorations for our doors. We celebrated Marilyn’s birthday and enjoyed her favorite meal...hamburgers and fries. We watched  some funny movies; Up, Happy Feet, and Eight Below. We had our first resident council where we talked about food, cleanliness, and other ideas/suggestions we might have to make Stoney Creek even better. We now have a dry erase board on the fridge where we can write our suggestions down for activities or food requests…..that will be fun to change things up a little here and there with the menu. We miss your visits...come see us.

JoAnn arranged for a new lady to come do yoga again, since the previous lady is moving out of state. JoaAnn attended a Fit and Fall Prevention class at CSI which she will begin to implement some of what she learned. This should be fun for all of us to get some different exercise. During February we had 4 CSI RN students come out to do service projects with is...which was really fun. We made valentines and one elementary school made valentines and brought them out to us.  We are going to discuss what we want to do for St. Patrick’s Day….maybe cook up some corn beef and cabbage...We are going to start having a resident council once per month so we can discuss the good stuff here and the stuff we have suggestions for improvement. We are also getting a dry erase board for us to write suggestions for activities or meals we’d like.

We had a great time at Stoney Creek in January. JoAnn has been so much fun. She thinks of all kinds of great things to do or talk about. We all look forward to her coming every morning. We are sad when she can’t be here….our day just isn't the same. It’s been fun to reminisce about the last year and wonderful memories from our younger days. We have been enjoying some yummy cooking. We sure appreciate all the ladies that take such good care of us.  We sure hope the groundhog sees or doesn't see his shadow…..which ever it is that means warm weather is coming sooner rather than later…. We like being able to spend time outside enjoying the sunshine and can’t wait for the warmer days. We have enjoyed having visitors during January and hope even more will find time to come visit with us.
